How-To: Eyeshadow Set For Your Eye Color

How-To: Eyeshadow Set For Your Eye Color

Our favorite beauty looks are the ones that accentuate our natural features—namely, our eyes. Especially around the holidays, we want bigger, brighter, more vivid eyes that catch the light at every party. Instead of making a confusing palette with many shadow choices, we've streamlined the process.

We created 3 sets, with 3 shadows to make your eyes the star of the show—and they're all just $20. Here's how to use each set:

Blue Eyes

Prime
Before applying any eyeshadow, use Cate Eye Primer from eye line to brow bone to make your look last.

Step 1: Canvas Eyeshadow - The Base Shadow
Canvas is the lightest shade, and because it’s matte, it’s the perfect base shadow. Dust Canvas across the entire lid, up to the brow bone.

Step 2: Bubble Gum Eyeshadow - The Midtone Shadow
Bubble Gum is the perfect shimmery bronze midtone shadow—not too light, not too dark. Use a flat shadow brush to apply Bubble Gum across your eyelid, up to crease of the eye.

Step 3: SoCal Eyeshadow - The Contour Shadow
SoCal is a shade darker than Bubble Gum, and builds beautifully—we’ll use this to create depth. Run SoCal along your crease or orbital eye bone, extending the color out from the corners of the eye. Blend well. If desired, you can also use SoCal as a liner by wetting a flat lining brush and tracing your top and lower lash line.

Get all these shadows, for just $20 in our new Behind Blue Eyes Eyeshadow Set.

Brown Eyes

Prime
Before applying any eyeshadow, use Cate Eye Primer from eye line to brow bone to make your look last.

Step 1: Cowboy Boots Eyeshadow - The Midtone Shadow
After applying primer, dust Cowboy Boots across entire eyelid, from lashline to crease.

Step 2: Slate Eyeshadow - The Contour Shadow
Slate is a deep grey with shimmer that provides a lot of light reflection and natural depth. Using a flat shadow brush, run Slate along your crease or orbital eye bone, extending the color out from the corners of the eye. Blend well.

Step 3: Black Forest Eyeshadow - The Line
Black Forest is a very dark shimmery green, which brings out a prism of colors in brown eyes. To maximize it’s potential, we’ll use it as close to the lashline as possible. Wet a flat liner brush, and trace a thin line around the upper and lower lash line with Black Forest. For a smoky look, feel free to smudge the lines, especially near the outer corners.

Achieve this look yourself with our Brown Eyed Girl Eyeshadow Set. The set includes all 3 shadows for just $20.

Green Eyes

Prime
Before applying any eyeshadow, use Cate Eye Primer from eye line to brow bone to make your look last.

Step 1: Rosey Eyeshadow - The Midtone Shadow
Rosey is a dusty pink shade, and will immediately make green eyes appear brighter and more vivid. Dust Rosey across the eyelid, from lashline to crease.

Step 2: Shiraz Eyeshadow - The Contour Shadow
Shiraz is a deep purple-red, and its matte texture is the perfect compliment to shimmery Rosey. Using a flat shadow brush, run Slate along your crease or orbital eye bone, extending the color out from the corners of the eye to create dimension. Blend well.

Step 3: Smoke & Mirrors - The Line
Smoke & Mirrors is our most dimensional dark shade, and tends to bring out the subtler colors in green eyes. To maximize this effect, we’ll use it as eyeliner. Wet a flat liner brush, and trace around the upper and lower lash line with Smoke & Mirrors. As the name indicates, this shadow is also perfect for a smoky look, which can be amplified by smudging your liner, especially near the outer corners of the eye.

All the shadows you need for this look are included in our Green Eyed Lady Eyeshadow Set—for just $20.
