How-To: Holiday Party Makeup

How-To: Holiday Party Makeup

We can’t get enough of the holiday season. Not just because of the “merry and bright” thing (but that, too), but because we get to try some of our more fun beauty looks. Glitter? Smoky eye? Matte Lip? Yes, of course, sure. We’ve covered all those trends (and a few more) in our exclusive holiday value sets.

They’re great as gifts for your coworkers, stocking stuffers for your sister, or as a gift to yourself, because you deserve nice things. These products work well for any season but they’re especially festive during the holidays, so we give you permission to open this present early.

Here’s how we like to make the most out of each set:

GLOW TIME

This set is the only thing you’ll need to create the perfect holiday look. Press Slate eyeshadow lightly on your lid, going heavier around the lash line. Next, use the Clear Brow Gel to push and hold your eyebrows up, creating the appearance of a naturally thick brow. Complete the eye look by using Voluminizing Mascara to add feminine length and thickness to your lashes. Our most coveted beauty secret is out Mother of Pearl Illuminizer—it gives any face a brighter, natural glow. To know where to apply, we suggest looking in a mirror close to natural light, and taking note of where the sun naturally hits your face. A few of our unsuspecting go-to spots are the inner corners of our eyes, the cupid’s bow and under our brow bone. Finish your look by rubbing Tuscany Cheek & Lip Tint on your lips, and you’re guaranteed to be the most radiant person in the room.

NEARLY NUDE

As the weather gets cold, we’ve been reaching for warmer tones when we want to channel a natural look. We start by lining our lips with Neutral Lip Pencil—we love it because it goes well with every shade and always looks effortless. If you’re going for a more long-wear matte look, we suggest completely coloring in your lips with neutral before applying Guava Matte Lipstick. Guava does have a matte finish, but filling in with the lip pencil creates a strong base and allows the lipstick to last longer. If matte is your desired finish, you’re good to go! If you’re looking for a bit of shimmer, swipe on Whiskey Lip Gloss. The gloss’ brown undertones mix perfectly with Guava’s mauve color, warming up your complexion and making your teeth appear even more white.

MERRY MATTES

Matte lipsticks have been at the top of this year’s trend list, and we count ourselves amongst the fans. Applying a matte lip can be tricky, so we made sure to outline our short process here. The important thing to keep in mind is that this finish is extremely versatile. All Pinned Up is the perfect holiday red, and we love pairing Blood Orange with heather grey and winter white outfits for an unexpected pop of color.

GLITZ & GLAMOUR

If our outfit has heavy embellishment or sparkle, we opt for a less complex beauty routine. Enter Sand & Sun eyeshadow. It’s the perfect shimmery-neutral to catch the light as you move through the room, but leaves the statement-making to Cherry Bomb Liquid Lipstick. This lip goes on wet and dries matte for a modern look, while fulfilling the festive “holiday red” requirement.

WINTER NIGHTS

This is the perfect set to throw in your purse for an easy transition from day to night. Before you head out for the day, apply Whipped Cream eyeshadow for a soft, neutral look. When the sun sets, lightly press It’s Friday around your lash line to add depth and drama. Pull both looks with London lipstick—it has enough brown tones to be unique, but enough red to look glamorous and dignified.
