Natural Makeup Ingredients

Natural Makeup Ingredients

Cate McNabb was founded on the belief that your beauty routine should help you feel as beautiful as you look. That means creating clean cosmetics. To us, that means no parabens, no phthalates, no formaldehyde releasers, and we never test on animals. It sounds simple, but creating makeup without the harsh chemicals used by most of the industry can be tricky. We rely heavily on the root of our formulations to produce lasting, beautiful results—high quality ingredients, of course. Here are some of the most coveted natural ingredients in makeup:

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is one of our favorites in all facets of our lives, from beauty to cooking. For Cate’s Lip Pencils, we use coconut oil for it’s moisturizing and skin smoothing capabilities. We wanted Cate lip liners to create smooth definition around the lips, so we formulated with coconut oil, given that it’s known to strengthen and repair skin tissue from below the skin’s surface. It’s also known as a light exfoliant.

Grapeseed Oil

Grapeseed OilOur lipglosses wouldn’t be the same without magical grapeseed oil to control moisture. Like any other lipgloss manufacturer on the market, we want Cate glosses to be shiny, flirty, and moisturizing, without overdoing it. In natural formulations, choosing the correct moisturizing oil a lipgloss is essential—we would never want it to run past your lips. Grapeseed oil is known for it’s ability to control moisture and support the normal structure of cells, making it the perfect choice in many of our lipglosses. These are just a few of our natural ingredients.

Castor Oil

Castor OilCastor Oil is used in Cate lipsticks and liquid lipsticks for primarily for it’s deep moisturizing capability. It’s also a popular ingredient in many homeopathic and natural health techniques for it’s healing and anti-inflammatory ability. Castor oil has also been said to reduce acne and hyperpigmentation, and is known to be antioxidant-rich, meaning that it posses strong anti-aging properties as well.

Lemongrass Oil

Lemongrass OilLemongrass is one of the best jack-of-all-trades oils. It’s a savior for sensitive skin, with the ability to soothe, relax, and balance. It’s especially useful in our Matte Naturals Lipsticks, because it allows the lipstick to be soft and luxuriously textured, without adding shine. Fun fact: it’s frequently used in aromatherapy to lift your spirits.

Chamomile Extract

Our sensitive skin go-to. Chamomile Extract is frequently known as the "oil for everything." It's anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, anti-bacterial. Plus, it's calming and soothing for the mind and body.

It's also extremely antioxidant rich, meaning that it's powerful in the anti-aging department. When consumed, it's been said to give the body minimal natural protection from UV rays.

Orange Oil

Orange OilOrange Oil is great for toning and cleansing the skin. It's known to increase circulation and decrease wrinkles. We also love orange oil for it's ability to kill bacteria and pathogens, all while smelling fantastic.
